XDO

§ Our own product

GoodScrolling: make every minute over the limit do some good.

A product XDO conceived, designed and built from scratch, in development now. It's our proof that strategy and engineering belong in the same room.

The short answer

GoodScrolling helps people scroll less by tying a screen-time limit to a charity they care about. Go over your limit and unlocking your phone means a donation, so the cost of doomscrolling becomes a gift instead of a regret.

How it works

  1. 01

    Set a limit

Pick the daily screen-time you want to hold yourself to.

  2. 02

    Choose a cause

Select a charity from a curated list and set your pledge amount.

  3. 03

Go over, unlock with a gift

Hit your limit and the app locks. Unlocking records a donation to your chosen charity.

  4. 04

    Stay accountable

Social accountability features keep the commitment visible.

What we built

Product & brand

Concept, naming, positioning, a landing page with animated phone mockups, charity selector, social-accountability section and FAQ.

Growth

Email waitlist API with duplicate checks and source tracking, designed for conversion and later migration to real accounts.

Data

Postgres schema on Supabase for users, pledges, charities and waitlist, with row-level security so only the service role can touch sensitive tables.

Payments

Stripe setup intents to save a payment method, pledge creation, and a settlement process that finalizes donations off-app on the web.

Messaging

Twilio-backed emergency-request flow for exceptions to the lock.

Mobile experience

Designed flows for login, a dashboard of limits and donation amounts, and the limit-reached unlock screen.

Stack: Next.js and React, Supabase (Postgres and authentication with Google sign-in and magic links), Stripe, and Twilio.

Questions

What is GoodScrolling?

GoodScrolling is a product XDO designed and built that helps people cut doomscrolling by attaching a real, charitable consequence to their screen-time limits. You choose a limit and a charity; going over means a donation to that charity to unlock.

Who built GoodScrolling?

XDO's principals designed and built it end to end: product concept, brand and landing page, database and payments backend, and the mobile app experience.

Why does an agency build its own product?

Because the best test of marketing and technology advice is shipping something yourself. GoodScrolling exercises the same skills we bring to clients: positioning, waitlist and conversion design, data modeling, payments, messaging and automation.
